Double Milk

What is double milk, do you ask?  It's Bennett's new drink of choice - whole milk mixed with powdered milk.  Our goal each day will be 1,350 to 1,600 calories.  We're hoping to get Bennett up to the 5th percentile in the next couple of months.  This new diet consists of milk shakes, heaving whipping cream, half and half, bacon, refried bean dip, and chocolate drinks.  Sounds like a dream!  I'm hoping I have enough self-control to keep my paws off of all Benny's yummy food!

Baby vs. Food

You've probably seen all those shows on cable about men going to different places around the country and the world, eating large amounts of artery clogging food or disgusting delicacies.  Well, if Bennett had his own reality show, it would have to be called "Baby vs. Food."  He's never been all that thrilled about eating and, although he's turned into a pretty good little eater, we're still waiting with baited breath for him to finally break 20 pounds.  That's right, folks, we're still rocking the infant carrier, facing backwards!  At his 18 month check up last week, he was still under 20 and below the third percentile.  To make matters worse, last week he decided to go on a hunger strike, turning his nose up at practically everything but "cackers. "  He's doing better this week, thank goodness!  Let's just say that I was one frustrated mama!  Tomorrow we're going to see a nutritionist.  Hopefully, she'll have some brilliant ideas and we can get into that big boy car seat sooner than later!

Here's a video of Uncie Bri, Bri and Auntie Erin doing their part to fatten Benny up!

Party in Heaven

Anyone who knew my Grandpa Bill, knew he was a special guy.  He was always joking around, making everyone laugh with his great sense of humor.  That's why last night, I think there was a party in heaven.  When Grandpa went to be with Jesus, I'm sure all those that had gone before him couldn't wait to see him again.  I picture him being greeted by Grandma and Grandpa Rogers.  I'm sure Grandma said something like,"Well, it's about time you showed up!"  Grandpa Suttles was probably next in line, to say hello and give him a great big hug.  But, I'm sure his home going was even more wonderful, when he saw the face of his Savior.  Who knows, he might even be making blueberry pancakes for Jesus this morning!

I'll miss Grandpa, but I'm so excited for him!  Right now he's enjoying a new body, completely whole.  And I have the promise, that someday, I will see him again.

A Long Goodbye

The past few weeks we have been saying a long goodbye to Grandpa Bill.  After struggling with Parkinsons for many years, God is mercifully taking him home.  It's such a bittersweet time.  I cherish the moments we can spend with him during these last days, but it is still hard to see someone you love hovering between life and death.  The sweetest part, though, is knowing that soon he will receive the ultimate healing ... a new body, free from sickness and disease.  What a hope we have in Christ Jesus!  We can cling to the promise that, one day, we will be with Him, completely whole.  I'm not sure how many days we have left with Grandpa, but in the mean time, I plan to take advantage of this time to love on him and Nana while looking forward to his home going.  I'm so happy for him ...

Here are a few pictures of the last really good day we had with Grandpa while he was still awake and alert.  Such precious moments...
